Information

I began guiding in 1973 while attending college at the University of Wyoming and have been doing it ever since in one form or another. After grad school I moved to Jackson, WY and guided on the Snake, Green and New Fork rivers and in Yellowstone National Park. It was here through the example set by people like Paul Bruun and Jay Buchner that I learned professionalism and how to provide a client with the highest quality experience possible on the water. To me, teaching fly fishing and guiding is the best job in the world. I have the joy of introducing people to a sport that I feel passionate about in addition to sharing the thrill of catching a fish "through" them as I guide them on my favorite water.

With my fly fishing school and guide service based in the mid-Atlantic, I guide primarily in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Native brook trout in Blue Ridge Mountain streams, rainbow and brown trout in lower elevation freestone and limestone streams and smallmouth bass in our bigger rivers are our target species. My wife Lisa and I are also licensed Montana guides sponsored by Upper Canyon Outfitters in Alder, MT. We host trips to the Ruby River in July and August where we walk/wade fish on over 25 miles of private water and float the Madison and other larger rivers. We also host fly fishing trips to Nantucket, South Andros and Austria.

My guide service specializes in designing trips based upon our client's desires and expectations as well as their casting ability and fly fishing experience. I hope that we can plan a trip for you.
