As a youngster, Jack Trout started fishing Northern California streams and rivers with his father, a fishing guide on the Feather River in the little town of Portola, California.

For more than 16 years, Jack has guided and outfitted in the Mt Shasta area and far away places such as Chile, Argentina and Belize. He has been featured on fly fishing shows including ESPN, Outdoor Life Network, Fine Living Network and PBS, and written about in the San Francisco Chronicle and San Jose Mercury News. Jack also is heard by thousands weekly on the Fishing Report Show out of San Francisco (on KNBR 680 AM).

His passions are people and teaching fly fishing. He is an expert oarsmen and is a certified class 4 rafting guide as well. Jack has fly fished in 23 countries around the world. A client on many of these trips, Jack scrutinized his guides to determine what he liked and disliked about each one. The experience gave him the opportunity to develop and offer one of the best client-oriented guide services available.

Jack is always enthusiastic with his clients and is very good at listening to and answering questions. He willingly shares his knowledge and is always empathetic to individual needs. For the novice, veteran, or something in between, Jack's keen sense and intuitive nature provide a customized experience. Jack knows the holes that hold the quality wild trout our local waters are so famous for as well as in other countries.
