Information

I offer jet and or drift boat adventures on the Deschutes, John Day, Clackamas, and Sandy Rivers in Oregon for trout, steelhead, and smallmouth bass. I offer a variety of day and overnight fly fishing adventures for skilled or greenhorn anglers. I also offer on-river classes and equipment for those wanting to test the waters. The Crooked River is an ideal location for trout classes in central Oregon and the Sandy River near Portland for steelhead.

The Deschutes River Redsides (rainbow trout) are wild and they feed on the rivers rich aquatic insect life. This fishery has a slot limit of 10-13 inches but is managed as a trophy catch & release stream. Late May and June is the salmon fly hatch and that is the place to be!

Mid-July through November is summer steelhead season on the Deschutes and I focus on these fish. This is the game and it takes desire and is not for all anglers. Some anglers find the fall trout fishing exciting and bring two rods, but fishing for trout is not your ticket to catching a steelhead on the swing.

In October, I venture to the John Day River for some steelhead trips often due to river conditions. Catch it right and it will give up a lot of fish. You will get a lot of pulls when swinging a fly in the fall on this river. I can hear it now “Damn bass!" I also do smallmouth bass trips spring through fall if river flows allow it.

Fall, winter and spring I fish the Sandy and Clackamas Rivers near Portland. In the fall, silver and fall king salmon are in. December through March is winter steelhead time. April to May is mixed bag, an odd winter or early summer steelhead and also spring Chinook.

Day and overnight trip meals are all set up as you wish. Some clients like to bring the meals. They fish hard and eat when the fish allow it. Out of town clients usually like special meals tailored to taste. Lunches at peak seasons in some areas are not offered unless special arrangement is made.

I welcome you to call, but I will need to fit you in. So give me plenty of notice, be flexible, and we can hook up.
